Sarah set to star in ‘Dracula’

After appearing in several for David Cronenberg pics, Sarah Gadon is now ready to be wooed by the Prince of Darkness as she is in negotiations for the female lead in Universal’s “Dracula.”

Pic stars “Fast & Furious 6” thesp Luke Evans with Gary Shore directing and Michael De Luca producing.

The story is a mix of mythology and history as it follows the story of Prince Vlad, the inspiration for the Dracula character popularized by the Bram Stoker novel.

Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless wrote the latest draft of the script and Alissa Phillips will serve as exec producer.. VP of production Anikah McLaren and creative executive Jay Polidoro will oversee the project for Universal.

The film is moving fast with Universal giving it the greenlight and slating it for an Aug. 8, 2014, release.

Gadon worked with Cronenberg on “A Dangerous Method,” “Cosmopolis” and the upcoming “Map to the Stars.” She can be seen next opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in “An Enemy.”
